Background Material Movement

One of the fundamental concepts in hydrology is the flow paths of water within catchments. These are patterns of flow generation on land and dictate material movement from land to the stream network. As these dynamics are complex, the challenge for designing and implementing monitoring schemes to assess the impacts of interventions on freshwater ecosystems is to be able to determine approaches that can effectively depict the interplay of biogeochemical and hydrologic processes within a watershed ecosystem.
